With churned emotions, fifteen-year-old Ida Lewis pronounced good-bye to a small residence upon Spring Street upon a balmy Jun day in 1857. Though her latest home would still be in Newport, Rhode Island, it sat upon a little outcropping of rocks out in a harbor, utterly surrounded by water.
